Hurikot Gompa and School
by Marietta Kind Furger
For many years, we have been supporting Geshe Nyima Wozer and the Yungdrung Droduling Monastery in Hurikot with an annual contribution. Meanwhile, a hostel has been built for children, who additionally receive Tibetan lessons and an introduction to the local and Bön tradition.
In 2024, we co-financed a new roof for the monastery. The students from more distant villages, some of them orphans, attend the regular government school, live in the hostel, and learn Tibetan and local culture. Students who live with their parents in the nearby village also attend the classes. In addition, some children are trained as young novices in the monastery. We congratulate Geshe Nyima Wozer for his tireless commitment and are impressed by the young students' Tibetan.
