"Warm Room" Project

High up in the mountains at over 3000 meters above sea level, a long-cherished dream became reality: since 2025, there has been a warm room at the Tapriza School where students can study even on bitterly cold winter days. Planning had begun in the fall of 2023. Association President Marietta Kind and her husband, Urs Furger, board member and architect, had traveled to the Tapriza School. Together with the school management, they designated a bright, 92m² room to become the future "Warm Room". With the prospect of generous support from the Nepaltara Association and the ABZ Foundation, supplemented by our own fundraising, the renovation project began. Numerous stages had to be mastered: insulating windows, doors, and insulation materials were procured in Kathmandu, transported by bus to Dunai, and from there brought to the school by mules and porters - a journey full of challenges. At the same time, timber was being procured from the surrounding forests. The trees were painstakingly felled by hand, brought to the school, and processed there by carpenters. A generator made the work easier. Assembly followed over the course of the year: insulation, vapor barriers, and wooden paneling gradually transformed the storage room into an inviting learning space.
